Pakistan stuns Belgium in historic U19 Volleyball World Championship win

ISLAMABAD: In a thrilling start to their FIVB U19 Boys’ World Volleyball Championship campaign, Pakistan kicked off a world-class dream for the young Green Shirts by defeating world No. 7 Belgium in straight sets.

Ranked 19th in the FIVB U19 world rankings, Pakistan came into the Pool A competition as underdogs, making their first appearance at this prestigious youth event. But in a powerful display of skill, discipline and self-confidence, they made their presence felt in the opening match, defeating a highly ranked Belgium team by scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-22.

The victory is not only historic but also symbolic. For a nation still carving out its place in international volleyball, defeating a top-10 ranked opponent with such conviction would be a shock for the rest of the competition.

Pakistan’s junior team entered the U-19 Volleyball World Championship with high hopes, but expectations were low. Now, after their early win, there is renewed optimism about their prospects in the competition featuring 24 of the best youth teams from around the world.

The performance is also a testament to the growing growth of volleyball in Pakistan, especially at the youth level, where continued investment and talent identification are starting to pay off.

Pakistan’s next test will be against Uzbekistan tomorrow, with the entire nation’s attention on the journey ahead.

With their confidence rising and a historic win already under their belt, the boys in green have not only made history, they have made a statement, and put the world on notice.
