Pakistan team deprives of daily allowance despite reaching semi finals of Nations Hockey Cup

Nations Hockey Cup

ISLAMABAD: The players of the Pakistan hockey team, participating in the ongoing Nations Hockey Cup in Malaysia, are still deprived of their daily allowance.

As per media reports, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has not paid the daily allowance for ten days. On the other hand, the national team performed exceptionally well and reached the semifinals of the tournament.

In the event, Pakistan drew with the host Malaysia, defeated Japan, while the Green Shirts faced defeat in a match against New Zealand. The team will now face France in the semi-finals on Friday.

As the report went viral, PHF President Tariq Bugti addressed concerns regarding unpaid daily allowances.

Addressing the media in Kuala Lumpur, Bugti said that the real priority of players should be to do well in the semi-final against France and secure a place in the final.

He stated that although funding remains a challenge, internal issues should not overshadow the players’ efforts. “We fully understand the players’ concerns, but our immediate goal is to reach the final.”

If the Green Shirts manage to reach the final of the event, they will get a golden opportunity to play in the Hockey Pro League.
