ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s playing XI for the first T20I of the Pakistan-Zimbabwe series has been announced, with Salman Agha appointed as the captain. The match is scheduled to be played tomorrow, which will kick off the much-anticipated series.
The squad features a mix of experienced players and emerging talent. Saim Ayub, Umair Bin Yousuf, Usman Khan, Tayyab Tahir, and Irfan Khan have all been selected for the line-up.
In the bowling department, Jhandad Khan, Abbas Afridi, and pace spearhead Haris Rauf have been included, alongside spinners Abrar Ahmed and Sufyan Moqim, rounding off a well-balanced team.
Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha stressed the importance of winning the T20I series. Addressing a press conference, Agha described the series as an opportunity for young players to showcase their talents. He mentioned plans to test the strength of the team’s bench in the T20Is and acknowledged the positive momentum from the successful ODI series, which he aimed to carry forward.
Highlighting the team’s spinners, Agha expressed confidence in their ability to perform in the T20I squad. Citing their strong domestic performances, he urged the younger players to take advantage of the opportunities provided.
He said: “T20I cricket often revolves around an impressive spell or individual performance.”
Agha acknowledged Zimbabwe’s strength on their home ground and reaffirmed his team’s determination to prevent the hosts from dominating.
