LAHORE: As the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) prepares to host the Champions Trophy 2025 in February, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has approved upgrades for stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
This decision followed Naqvi’s visit to BDP Pattern’s London office, where he met with Chairman Chris Harding and other senior officials.
Renovation work is already underway at Karachi’s National Stadium, one of the three venues for the tournament, alongside Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium.
The PCB has allocated Rs12.80 billion for the upgrades, which are set to be completed before the event, scheduled from February 19 to March 9 next year.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved a $70 million budget for the tournament, covering expenses from February 12 to 18, designated for warm-up matches, media, and promotional activities.
Each team will be allowed up to two warm-up matches in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
During his visit to BDP’s office, Naqvi was briefed on the stadium upgrades and expressed satisfaction with the plans, emphasizing the importance of these improvements to accommodate a large number of cricket fans.
The UK-based BDP, known for its international standards in stadium design, is overseeing the project.
