PCB confirms Shan Masood as captain, Sarfaraz as head coach

Shan Masood takes responsibility after Pakistan’s defeat in first Test

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to retain Shan Masood as the Test captain, while former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed will take over as the head coach.

The Pakistan Cricket Board will officially announce the captain and head coach after the announcement of the series schedule with Bangladesh.

According to sources, Sarfaraz Ahmed will take over as the head coach for the first time, replacing Azhar Mahmood. He is also the national selector at the moment, while Shan Masood is already taking over the leadership responsibilities. The Pakistani team is likely to play three Test series against Bangladesh, the West Indies, and England.

Pakistan played its last Test series against South Africa in October, which ended in a 1-1 draw. According to sources, Shan Masood will be retained as the captain to maintain a policy of consistency.

Currently, the white-ball head coach is New Zealand’s Mike Hesson, while the ODI captain is Shaheen Shah Afridi, and the T20 captain is Salman Ali Agha.
