Reports claim BBL may begin in India with opening match in Chennai

MUMBAI: Media reports have claimed that the opening match of the upcoming season of the Big Bash League could be played in India in December.

According to reports, Chennai has been proposed as the venue for the opening fixtures of the tournament, and preliminary work in this regard has already begun.

The reports stated that Cricket Australia has received positive feedback from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association as well as the Board of Control for Cricket in India regarding the proposal.

Media sources further claimed that Cricket Australia has selected Chennai as the preferred venue for the opening match of the BBL season.

According to Indian media, a delegation has already completed venue inspections and research, although final approval is still pending at the government level.

Reports added that a final decision regarding hosting the BBL opener in India will be taken after completion of official consultations and necessary clearances.
