Sarfaraz Ahmed tipped for Pakistan Test head coach role

LAHORE: Former Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed as the head coach of the national Test cricket team.

PCB sources said that Sarfaraz Ahmed’s appointment will be officially announced soon, and he will start his duties in Pakistan’s Test series with Bangladesh.

It should be noted that the post of coach of the Pakistan Test team was vacant; Azhar Mahmood served as the interim head coach during the series against South Africa.

The Pakistan team will play a 2-Test series against Bangladesh in May, which is part of the World Test Championship 2027. The first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will start on May 8, and the second on May 16.

Sarfaraz Ahmed was appointed as the mentor of the Pakistan Under-19 team, under whose leadership the team won the Asia Cup, while Sarfaraz Ahmed also assumed the responsibilities of mentor for the recently held Under-19 World Cup.
