SYDNEY: Rounder Shane Abbott expressed his disappointment at not being able to dismiss Pakistani star batsman Babar Azam humorously, saying that he is fed up with bowling against Babar.

Shane Abbott, who has represented Australia in 29 ODIs and 28 T20 Internationals, has so far failed to dismiss Babar Azam in both formats of white-ball cricket, despite the two having faced each other several times.

According to statistics, Shane Abbott bowled Babar Azam 48 balls in ODIs, on which he gave away 40 runs but could not take any wickets. In T20 Internationals, the Australian bowled Babar Azam 12 balls, on which the Pakistani batter scored 8 runs.

Babar Azam’s match-winning fifty in Big Bash League, Sydney Sixers win by 6 wickets

The two are currently representing Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League 2025-26 and share the same dressing room. Despite this, Shane Abbott described bowling against Babar Azam as difficult.

In a recent interview, Shane Abbott praised the national player and humorously said, “Babar hits you where he wants and I’m tired of bowling to him.”

He said that whether it is domestic cricket or international cricket, I don’t remember ever getting him out and sometimes it feels like the damage is slowly happening, because when you look at the scoreboard, he is playing at a strike rate of 120 and it feels like you are not even close to getting him out.

Shane Abbott appreciated Babar Azam’s importance to the Sydney Sixers and called him a valuable asset to the team.

He said that he (Babar Azam) is a great asset to our team and has proven to be the best fit for us so far. We are really lucky that Babar Azam is a part of the Sixers.

This statement by Shane Abbott is going viral on social media.

It should be noted that in the Big Bash League match held yesterday, Babar Azam scored a match-winning fifty while playing for the Sydney Sixers and led his team to an important victory.

In the match played in Melbourne, the Sydney Sixers defeated the Melbourne Renegades by 6 wickets.

National cricketer Babar Azam played an unbeaten innings of 58 runs off 46 balls while playing for the Sydney Sixers.
