South Africa announces T20 World Cup 2026 squad

GUWAHATI: South Africa has defeated England by 125 runs in the first semi-final of the Women’s One-Day World Cup played in Guwahati.

South African captain Laura Wolvaardt’s brilliant century took the Proteas to their first World Cup final.

Wolvaardt batted responsibly and scored 169 runs off 143 balls.

Wolvaardt and Tazmin Britts put on an opening partnership of 116 runs, which provided a strong foundation for the team.

Later, Marizane Kapp, Chloe Tryon, and Nadine de Klerk took the innings to 319.

In reply, the England team was under pressure from the start in pursuit of the target. Marizane Kapp took 5 wickets while bowling devastatingly, while Iyabonga Khaka made early breakthroughs.

The entire England team was bundled out for just 194 runs in 42.3 overs.

South Africa changed its history by finally reaching the final after failing in the semi-finals of 2017 and 2022.

Moreover,  the second semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025 will be played between India and Australia tomorrow, the winner of which will face South Africa in the final on November 2.
