T20 World 2024: ICC announces massive cash prize for winner team; Details inside

ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a record-breaking prize fund of $11.25 million USD for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, with the winners receiving at least $2.45 million, here on Monday.

The winners of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will receive the highest amount of money in the history of the tournament.

The ninth edition will see 20 teams compete over 28 days across nine venues in West Indies and America, making it the biggest event of its kind.

The runner-up will earn at least $1.28 million, while the semi-final losers will each receive $787,500. Teams that do not advance past the second round will each receive $382,500, and teams that finish between ninth and 12th place will receive $247,500 each.

Teams finishing 13th through 20th will earn $225,000 each. Additionally, each team will receive an additional $31,154 for each match won, excluding the semi-finals and finals.

The tournament will begin with 40 matches in the first round, leading to the Super Eight, semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. The final match will be held at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, where the 2024 men’s champion will be crowned.

Commenting on the historic significance of the event, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said, “This event is historic in many ways, so it is only fitting that the prize money for the players reflects this. Millions of fans around the world will be entertained by the players in what we hope to be out of this world event.
