DUBAI: The tussle between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the removal of controversial match referee Andy Pycroft has entered its final phase.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has rejected the decision not to remove the match referee. The PCB has written a reply letter to the ICC, calling the inquiry against the controversial umpire a drama.
If the ICC does not agree, Pakistan will not play the match today. According to the PCB, the ICC had no intention of taking action against Andy.
No witness to the incident was contacted in the nominal inquiry. Andy got involved in politics by giving a message not to shake hands.
The ICC has a few hours left to make a decision; if the ICC does not agree, Pakistan will not play today’s match.
It may be recalled that after the Pakistan-India match in the Asia Cup, the Indian team did not shake hands with the Pakistani players, violating the spirit of sportsmanship.
Even at the time of the toss, the match referee had requested the captains not to shake hands.
Even after the match, the two players did not shake hands, and the Indian players went straight to their dressing rooms.
In protest, the national team captain, Salman Ali Agha also did not attend the closing ceremony. Later, the PCB demanded the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft from the Asia Cup.
