UK ministers face increased pressure to restrict gambling ads

Online Gambling via Mobile Games on the Rise in Pakistan, Experts Warn of Alarming Trend

ENGLAND: UK Ministers are facing growing pressure to limit gambling advertisements this year. MPs and campaigners say new surveys show most people support stricter rules on gambling ads.

In recent years, gambling policies have been debated heavily. The government has introduced stricter rules for the £12.5 billion industry and increased taxes, even though the gambling industry has lobbied hard against these changes.

Previous governments have also set lower limits on online slot machines and created a fund to help people with gambling addiction. However, gambling advertisements have mostly stayed the same.

The latest survey, shared with the Guardian, shows strong public support for tighter control of gambling ads, which have increased a lot since the rules were relaxed in 2005 under Tony Blair’s government.
