Who will lead Multan Sultans after Ali Tareen’s exit?

PSL franchise Sialkot Stallionz rebranded as Multan Sultans

LAHORE: Preparations for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 have just begun, as Multan Sultans will be getting a new face after the exit of Ali Tareen.

The excitement mounts up as two new PSL teams are going to be sold on January 8.

According to reports, Ali Tareen may have the opportunity to purchase a new team if he wishes to.

Moreover, the auction of the Multan Sultans is also expected just after the PSL, which keeps the cricketing world on its toes.

In a bureaucratic muddle, the PCB chief announced the management of the Multan Sultans for the upcoming 11th season, following a long-standing dispute with the former owner, Ali Khan Tareen.

Tareen’s contract was not renewed after he publicly criticized league management and raised issues over governance and transparency.

Multan Sultans have been amongst the most valuable franchises of PSL, having won the title in 2021 and appearing in multiple franchise finals.

The PCB will appoint an interim head, preferably a professional cricketer, to ensure smooth operations till the permanent ownership of the franchise is decided through an auction after the end of the season.

It is expanding to eight teams in 2026, and the auction for two new franchises is scheduled for January 8. Tareen, for that matter, may also take part in the bid-buying for a new team, with PCB welcoming him despite all the disputes.
