BEIJING: Huawei is already generating buzz ahead of the expected October launch of its next flagship lineup, the Mate 90 series, with early leaks revealing significant upgrades, particularly in the camera department.
According to recent reports, the top-tier Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max could feature a dual telephoto camera setup, similar to its predecessor, but with a major enhancement.
One of the telephoto lenses is expected to support up to 10x optical zoom, marking a notable improvement over the Mate 80 Pro Max, which offered 4x and 6.2x zoom through its dual 50MP periscope cameras.
The leak also suggests Huawei is testing a 1-inch type sensor for the main camera, a move that could significantly enhance low-light photography and overall image clarity.
If implemented, this upgrade would position the Mate 90 series as a strong contender in smartphone photography.
Sources further claim that the overall imaging performance of the device may exceed expectations, although specific details remain unclear at this stage.
The final performance will only be confirmed once the device is officially launched and tested.
On the design front, the Mate 90 Pro Max is rumored to adopt a flat display, moving away from the curved screens used in previous models.
This change is likely to appeal to users who prefer better usability and fewer accidental touches.
For comparison, the Mate 80 Pro Max, launched in November last year, featured a 50MP main camera with variable aperture technology.
The upcoming model is expected to build on that foundation with more advanced imaging capabilities.
As anticipation builds, further leaks and official teasers are expected in the coming weeks, making the Mate 90 series one of the most closely watched smartphone launches of the year.
