No need for editing apps, Google drive allows you to edit videos directly

Iran threatens to attack Google, Microsoft in response to recent attacks

CALIFORNIA: Google Drive has just rolled out native integration of Google Vids, its cloud-based, lightweight video editing platform. The feature will roll out within the next 15 days to some Workspace users, providing basic editing functionality right within Drive.

Once live, integration will be indicated by a purple Google Vids icon at the top-right when users open supported video files in Drive. The icon can be tapped to view the video in Google Vids, where users can trim the video, add text overlay, incorporate music, and add other graphics.

Google Vids presently has basic editing capabilities, but with the benefit of a cloud-based interface, it bypasses local software. Saving the project as a new Vids file after editing is necessary since in-place editing is still not available.

Limitations

The integration presently supports MP4, QuickTime, OGG, and WebM formats. Yet, only videos less than 35 minutes and less than 4GB in size can be edited.

Who Gets the Feature?

The feature will be reserved for users in the following Workspace domains:

  • Business Starter, Standard, or Plus
  • Enterprise Starter, Standard, or Plus
  • Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, and Enterprise Essentials Plus
  • Nonprofits
  • Education and Gemini Education Premium
  • Google AI Pro and Ultra
  • Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-on customers

The feature will not be accessible to free Google account holders at the moment.
