ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) announces the successful launch of Pakistan’s second indigenous Electro-Optical satellite (EO-2) launched from the Yangjiang Seashore Launch Centre (YSLC), China.
The satellite will be launched into space from the Yangtze River Seashore Center in China.
A Suparco spokesperson said that this satellite will enhance Pakistan’s Earth observation and imaging capabilities. According to the spokesperson, the launch of the EO2 satellite is a symbol of the country’s space expertise, while this satellite will provide important data for planning and resource management.
The spokesperson said that this launch will increase Pakistan’s satellite fleet and improve the continuity and accuracy of observations. The Suparco spokesperson further said that this launch will help lead the satellite sector, natural disaster management, and strategic planning.
The spokesperson said that EO2 demonstrates Pakistan’s self-reliance in satellite manufacturing. It should be noted that earlier, the EO-1 satellite was launched by Suparco in January 2025.
This satellite was also launched from a center in China. On this occasion, a Suparco spokesperson said that this satellite is designed to help in disaster response and agriculture.
The spokesperson said that EO-1 is also designed to help in urban planning. According to Suparco, this satellite will be helpful in food security and water management while increasing the monitoring of natural resources across the country.
