But using a laptop on a soft surface will shorten its life.

A major sign of this is that the laptop’s fan becomes louder and it starts to heat up quickly.
If you want to use your laptop on a bed, sofa, floor or on your lap, make sure that it does not overheat while working.
For this, cooling pads can be used that provide cool air to the laptop.
The purpose of these pads is to prevent the laptop from heating up. If they are not available, then use the laptop in such a way that it is slightly elevated from a soft surface.
If the laptop overheats, it should be stopped from use so as not to damage the device.
