ISLAMABAD: Meta has announced some important changes for group chats on WhatsApp at the beginning of the new year.

The company says that these features will be provided to users in phases in the early months of 2026. The aim of these updates is to make conversations in groups more convenient and effective.

The most prominent new feature in WhatsApp group chats is member tags. Under this facility, each user will be able to have their own unique name or tag in the group. This will help other members of the group know which member is playing what role. Users will also be able to use different tags in different groups.

The second new feature is related to text stickers. Now users will be able to convert any word or phrase into a sticker. By writing the desired words in the sticker search, an instant sticker can be created. There will also be a facility to save these stickers in a sticker pack later.

The third important update is Event Reminder. Through this feature, an event can be created for any event or activity in the group chat. Users will also be able to set reminders for this event so that they don’t miss any important moments.

According to Meta, these new features have started being tested. They will be available to all users in the next few days. The company says that these updates will help make group chats more organized and interesting.
