PTI gets its ‘Bat’ symbol back for Elections

PESHAWAR: The Divisional Bench of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), led by Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Syed Arshad Ali, issued its decision in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) intra-party election and election symbol case.

After hearing the counsel for the PTI and the apex election body, the court reserved its verdict.

The courtroom was alive with legal discussion as counsel presented their perspectives on the case. The Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) stance on the validity of intra-party elections and the allocation of election symbols was scrutinized, and the electoral body declared the intra-party elections invalid.

The PTI’s legal team countered by claiming that the ECP is simply a’record keeper’ of all things election, with no authority to assign or withdraw a party’s electoral symbol.

If the complainant goes to civil court, the decision will not be made until the next election, according to the ECP’s counsel.
