PTI expels twelve members including Gilgit-Baltistan CM

GILGIT: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken a major step towards violating party discipline by terminating the primary membership of 12 members of the assembly, including the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The notification issued by the Additional Secretary General PTI states that these members have been proven guilty of forming a forward bloc, making decisions contrary to party policy, and disloyalty in voting.

The members whose membership has been cancelled by the party include Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Gulbar Khan, Shamsul Haq Lone, Haji Shah Baig, Raja Azam, Abdul Hameed, Amjad Zaidi, Suraya Zaman, and Raja Nasir Maqpun.

Similarly, members of the assembly, Mushtaq Ahmed, Dilshad Bano, and Fazal Rahim have also been expelled from the party.

In addition, a show-cause notice has been issued to former Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpun, from whom an explanation has been sought.

PTI has made it clear that all expelled members will not be able to use the party’s name, flag, or any official position.

Earlier, more than twenty (20) members of the National Assembly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have yet to step down from their positions in standing committees.

As of now, 52 members have submitted their resignations to the Speaker’s office, with five more resignations submitted recently.

According to media reports, several MNAs, including Sohail Sultan, Muhammad Nawaz Khan, Muhammad Atif, Sher Ali Arbab, Osama Ahmed Mela, and Ghulam Muhammad, continue to serve on various committees.

Muhammad Saadullah, Umar Farooq, Muhammad Mehboob Sultan, Khawaja Sheeraz, Ayesha Nazir, Mian Ghaus Muhammad, and Fayyaz Hussain are yet to tender their resignations.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan had instructed all the PTI National Assembly Members to resign from the standing committees.

However, no official action has been taken by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on the matter of resignations.

PTI has also announced a boycott of the National Assembly proceedings.

PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram rejected the report, adding that “the list of 25 lawmakers is wrong, as 8 to 10 members are out of the country, some have gone for Umrah, a few are unwell, and there is also information that around eight more tendered resignations today.”
