Islamabad Weather: Light rainfall starts in federal capital

Rain forecast for upper Pakistan, heatwave to persist in South

ISLAMABAD: Light rainfall has started in Islamabad, with cold winds making the weather cold in the federal capital. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), heavy rain and snowfall are expected across the country today.

On January 22, there is a risk of slippery roads and flooding in local rivers and streams in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, and Zhob due to heavy rain/snowfall.

Due to heavy rain/heavy snowfall, there is a risk of road closures and disruption in traffic flow due to slippery roads in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, and Rawalakot.

Due to heavy rain/heavy snowfall, there is a risk of flooding in local rivers and streams in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, while there is a risk of landslides/avalanches in hilly areas.

During this time, tourists are advised to be cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
