Islamabad weather: Light to moderate rainfall expected in capital city

ISLAMABAD: Temperatures are set to drop in Islamabad and Rawalpindi with expected isolated light to heavy rain, potentially bringing relief for residents amid rising temperatures.

Rainfall will give much-anticipated relief to locals across Pakistan with preferred temperatures to combat the current heatwaves.

Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that moderate to strong moist currents should be able to penetrate the upper parts of Pakistan tonight, and continue to penetrate the mid part of Pakistan from Saturday.

A fresh westerly wave is expected to affect the upper and central parts of the country starting on Saturday. Therefore, under the likely generous conditions, residents in the twin cities (Islamabad, Rawalpindi) and Potohar region, northeast region of Punjab, and in Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to have rains and gusty winds with isolated hailstorms on Friday night.

Then from Saturday and Sunday, rainfall with gusty winds and isolated heavy rain and hailstorms are likely for the twin cities and in Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and north east Balochistan.

The expected maximum temperature in Islamabad is between 34 degrees Celsius and 36 degrees Celsius on Saturday and is likely to remain between 35 degrees to 37 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

The expected maximum temperature in Rawalpindi is between 35 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.
