ISLAMABAD: The residents of the Federal capital are witnessing light rainfall and a chilly breeze from the morning bringing a significant temperature drop.

According to the Met Office, this rain spell is expected to persist until March 2. Heavy rainfall has lashed Quetta in Balochistan, further damaging communication setups.

Kohat started witnessing rain last night, with other areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stated to be experiencing rains, leaving the weather miffed.

The Meteorological Department of Pakistan has forecast heavy rains to last for the next 24 hours. The Kurram area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is receiving downpours leading to seriously cold temperatures due to snow in the upper regions.

There is rain in Karak which is additionally expected to result in a drop in temperature.

The National Emergencies Operation Centre has issued a weather advisory warning of extreme weather conditions due to the ongoing weather system. The advisory calls for heavy rain, gusty winds, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and heavy snowfall in northern and western areas of the country.

The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has warned that some areas, including Islamabad, upper Punjab, and parts of central, southern, and northeastern Punjab, may witness rains, winds, and thunderstorms with chances of snow or hailstorms, posing a further risk of flash floods in the vulnerable areas due to heavy rainfall.
