ISLAMABAD: Rains with strong winds and thunderstorms continue in different areas of the federal capital, Islamabad.
According to weather experts, the current spell is part of a larger weather system, which is affecting the upper parts of the country. More rain and strong winds are expected in the coming hours.
The inclement weather has disrupted daily activities in certain parts of the city. Authorities have also advised citizens to take certain precautions, especially during thunderstorms and strong winds.
The weather system is expected to persist in an intermittent manner, giving relief from rising temperatures. However, it also poses risks of urban flooding and power failures.
Moreover, according to the district administration spokesperson, the pre-monsoon measures taken by the district administration during the recent rains are showing positive results.
The spokesperson said that due to timely cleaning of drains and low-lying areas, significant improvement has been seen in water drainage, which is reducing the problems faced by citizens.
According to the spokesperson, all assistant commissioners are present in the field on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad and are continuously monitoring the situation.
The spokesperson said that the sanitation staff is using water pumps and other machinery to ensure drainage, while the assistant commissioners are continuously monitoring the low-lying areas and drains.
According to the district administration, traffic flow is also being maintained in the city in collaboration with the traffic police so that the citizens do not face any kind of problem.
