KARACHI: According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, Karachi is bracing itself for a spell of cold weather, courtesy of the Siberian winds that are expected to make their presence felt starting tomorrow.
The city’s residents can look forward to a significant drop in temperatures, particularly on December 24 and 25, when strong northeast winds are anticipated to blow at speeds of 25 to 35 kilometers per hour.
These gusty winds will not only make the cold weather feel more intense, but they will also bring a chill to the city that will be hard to ignore.
Today, Karachi experienced mainly dry weather, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 12°C. However, the city will witness a significant drop in temperatures as winter is scattering its roots in Pakistan. The humidity in the city varies up to 39% and the air is moving in the northwest direction at the speed of 13 km/h.
According to Met Office’s latest predictions, the weather is likely to remain cold and dry in most parts of the country while it will be very cold and partly cloudy in the upper areas. However, light rain/light snowfall is likely at a few places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjacent hilly areas. Fog is expected to prevail in the plain areas of Punjab, upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the night.
