KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert for Karachi and Sindh because they expect strong winds and thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and possible hailstorms to start tomorrow.

The Met Office reports that a westerly weather system will enter southwestern Balochistan today, which will change weather conditions throughout the region.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts that Karachi will receive 50mm or more rain with winds exceeding 50kph because rain is expected to start in the city on the night of April 1.

Rain will fall in Karachi, Jamshoro, Dadu, Larkana, and Qambar Shahdadkot because of its effects, which will last from today until April 4.

The weather forecast predicts light rain or drizzle for Karachi today, but the city will experience stronger thunderstorms on Thursday.

The system will produce moderate rainfall across various regions, while some specific areas will experience intense rainfall and hailstorm conditions.

The department has also predicted rainfall in Sukkur, Khairpur, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Matiari, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Thatta, and Hyderabad, along with other parts of the province.

Strong winds and lightning strikes, and hail will create hazardous conditions which will damage electricity poles and solar panels, billboards, and standing crops, according to authorities. Residents need to prepare for safety during this time frame.

The system will start to strengthen today, which will lead to the development of clouds, strong winds, and rain showers that will occur intermittently throughout multiple areas in the province.

The impact will become more pronounced in urban areas because changing weather patterns will create unexpected rainstorms in Karachi.
