LAHORE: A cool breeze was seen in the air in the Punjab capital Lahore on Saturday morning as drizzle fell in several areas after a break in the drought in the region.
Drizzle fell in several areas including Mall Road, Jail Road, Saddar, Gulberg, Zaman Park, Garhi Shahu, Dharmapura, Mughalpura, Ichhra, Muslim Town, Mazang, Choburji, Yathi Khana.
Light rain added to the cold slightly, the mercury dropped further. Areas like Thokar and Shimla Pahari also received light rain, which added to the cold. The Meteorological Department has predicted a new weather system that will enter the country on February 18 and there will be more rains.
Earlier, a drought alert was issued in Punjab, emergency measures have been initiated in the Cholistan region. According to the Environment Department, Punjab saw a 42 percent decrease in rainfall between September 1, 2024 and January 15, 2025. As a result, 14 districts of the province, including Pothohar, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Khushab and Multan, are currently facing drought.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to the Cholistan administration to remain vigilant.
Karachi witnessed pleasant weather in the morning with partly cloudy skies. However, the city is expected to witness hot weather throughout the day, with the maximum temperature forecast to reach 32 degrees Celsius.
