LAHORE: After a long drought, Lahore woke up to light drizzle this morning, bringing a refreshing change in the weather. Several areas including Mall Road, Gulberg and Canal Road received early morning rain, accompanied by a cool breeze that brought a significant drop in temperature.

Despite the brief rain, the rest of the day remained dry, with temperatures hovering around 20°C in the afternoon and expected to drop to 11°C at night.

PMD predicts rain for next week

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, more rain is likely in Lahore and its surroundings next week as a new weather system is set to enter the country. While most parts of Pakistan will remain cold and dry during the next 24 hours, Lahore’s weather is expected to cool down further, with the chances of rain increasing in the coming days.

The forecast also predicts light rain and snowfall in some parts of northern Pakistan, especially in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, with a shallow westerly wave expected to reach the region by tomorrow.

Saturday will be cold and dry in most parts of the country, with night temperatures remaining extremely cold in the hilly areas. Light rain and snowfall in the mountains are likely at some places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan. Similar weather is expected on Sunday, with light rain and snowfall in some parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and northwestern Balochistan.

As Lahore braces for the upcoming rains, residents are advised to stay informed of weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during the rains.
