Met Office predicts more rain, low lying areas at risk

KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has predicted more rain in the country, with low-lying areas being flooded due to heavy rains in various cities in Sindh.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds, gale-force winds, and thunderstorms at most places in Sindh, southern Punjab, and northeastern and southern Balochistan.

In addition to the partly cloudy weather in northeastern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected at a few places.

The weather is likely to remain hot and dry in other parts of the country.

Heavy rains are continuing in various cities of Sindh, which have flooded low-lying areas and disrupted the communication system. H

eavy rains occurred in many cities, including Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Rohri, Padidan, Larkana and Naushahro Feroze.

More rain has been predicted in various cities of Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, and Lahore, during the next 24 hours.

Heavy rains are also likely in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, and Dera Ghazi Khan.

According to the rainfall data of the Karachi Meteorological Department in the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Korangi at eight millimeters, five millimeters in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, and three millimeters at Met Office University Road.

PAF Faisal Base Sharaa Faisal 2 mm, Gulshan-e-Ma’am 3.5 mm, Airport Old Area 2.6 mm, North Karachi 1.2 mm, DHA Phase 7 1.5 mm, Keamari 4 mm, Jinnah Terminal 3 mm, Surjani 2 mm were recorded.
