ISLAMABAD: The National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) of the NDMA Pakistan has issued an alert warning of rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible hail in several parts of the country over the next 12 to 24 hours.

According to the advisory, rain is expected in upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, with intermittent showers likely in Islamabad and surrounding areas.

Punjab cities likely to receive rain

Rainfall is expected in Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, and Mandi Bahauddin.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa forecast

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Mingora, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Charsadda, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Balochistan and northern areas

The alert also forecasts rainfall in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Pishin, and Sibi, while Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also expected to receive showers.

Areas including Skardu, Hunza, Nagar, Ghizer, Diamer, Gilgit, Ghanche, Astore, Kharmang, and Shigar in Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli, Poonch, and Neelum Valley in Azad Kashmir, may also experience rain and thunderstorms.

Officials warned that strong winds, lightning, and hail could damage weak structures, trees, standing crops, and power lines.

The NEOC cautioned that roads may become slippery, affecting traffic flow, and advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and drive carefully.

Tourists and travelers heading to northern areas have been advised to check the weather and road conditions before starting their journeys.

The NDMA urged the public to stay updated through its official “Pak NDMA Disaster Alert” mobile application and instructed all provincial and district authorities to remain on high alert.
