NDMA issues nationwide heatwave, flood and landslide alert from May 26–31

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning of possible severe cold in Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir.

According to the NDMA, severe cold weather is expected in the coming days until the end of January, with moderate to heavy snowfall in the upper areas.

The NDMA said that communication roads, transport, and power supply may be affected due to snowfall, while possible snowfall in mountainous areas is expected to increase avalanches and slippage.

According to the NDMA, severe cold and snowfall can affect children and the elderly.

The NDMA has directed citizens to avoid unnecessary travel in mountainous areas and to install safety chains on vehicle tires in snowy areas.

The NDMA has also directed provincial agencies and district administrations to take precautionary measures and ensure the availability of necessary machinery.
