PMD predicts shorter & dryer winter for Punjab this year

Weather update: Extreme cold fog to be observed

LAHORE: Punjab is witnessing a change in weather patterns as the winter season shortens and temperatures start rising earlier than expected.

The Meteorological Department has reported that dry conditions persist across the province, leading to mild winters and an early onset of spring, especially noticeable in Lahore.

The minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded at 7 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius during the day. The dry spell is expected to continue for the next two to three days, during which no rain is forecast.

Experts believe that this year’s short winter could signal a change in weather trends. Meanwhile, Karachi is witnessing a significant drop in temperatures as cold winds from Balochistan are entering the city.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that the cold wave will continue in the coming days, with temperatures likely to drop into single digits.

On Thursday morning, Karachi’s minimum temperature reached 10.9 degrees Celsius, 3.6 degrees Celsius lower than the previous day. The city is under the influence of a western weather system, which is bringing cold winds and a significant drop in temperatures.
