QUETTA: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has issued an alert predicting rain, hail, wind, and snowfall in mountainous areas in different parts of the province due to a strong westerly wind.
According to the PDMA, this weather system may intensify during January 21 and 22, 2026, which is likely to affect normal life.
According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, and Chaman, due to which there is a possibility of road closures, slippage, and disruption in traffic flow.
In addition, rain and thunderstorms with strong winds have been predicted in other areas, including Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Noshki, Chagai, Daki, Loralai, Sibi, Khuzdar, Kalat, Mastung, Washik, Kech, Awaran, Gwadar, Hub ,and Lasbela.
PDMA has directed citizens, tourists, and travelers to avoid unnecessary travel, while farmers are to plan agricultural activities keeping in mind the weather conditions. The public has been urged to stay in safe places during heavy rain and snowfall.
PDMA has also issued instructions to all relevant institutions to remain alert and take preventive measures to deal with any emergency situation.
