Weather Alert: NDMA issues advisory for next 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has come up with a weather alert predicting a chance of rain in various parts of the country in the next 12 to 24 hours.

Following the alert, intermittent rains are predicted in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan, while showers are also predicted in the upper catchment of the rivers, among them include Jhelum, Ravi, and Sutlej.

Rain is expected in Punjab in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Hafizabad, Sargodha, and Khushab. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it is also expected to rain in Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, and Mansehra.

The NEOC also mentioned the possibility of rain with thunderstorms in Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, Hazara, Peshawar, Swabi, Waziristan, and surrounding districts.

In Sindh, rain is probable in Karachi, Jamshoro, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tharparkar, and Umerkot.

The NDMA has also issued a warning about the possibility of landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan’s mountainous areas and Azad Kashmir because of the imminent spell of rain. It has directed concerned local bodies to stay on their toes and take necessary precautions to avoid any mishaps.
