When will it rain in Pakistan? Check latest weather update

ISLAMABAD: After days of scorching heat, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain, wind, and thunderstorms for the upper parts of the country.

A westerly wave is expected to approach the region on October 5, bringing much-needed relief from the hot and dry weather.

According to the PMD, the rain, wind, and thunderstorms will affect various areas, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, and Faisalabad from October 5 to 8.

Karachi weather update

For the citizens of Karachi, there is no such relief from the bright sun for the next few days as the weather will remain hot and humid in the port city, PMD forecasted.

As far as the current weather is concerned, the maximum weather in Karachi ranges up to 32 degrees Celcius, whereas the lowest ranges to 27 degrees Celcius.

The humidity level ranges up to 67% and the wind is moving at the speed of 18 km/h.

Lahore weather update

According to the Met Office people of Lahore will witness thundershowers starting from October 05, 2024, which will help cool down the temperatures a bit, and reduce air pollution.

Recently Lahore has been ranked as the world’s most polluted city due to its poor air conditions. Earlier Lahore was ranked as the 5th most polluted city in the world.

Today’s maximum temperature in Lahore stages up to 37 degrees Celsius, and the lowest is recorded at 25 degrees Celsius.

Islamabad weather update

Islamabadians tend to enjoy the weather most due to its lush green parks and hills keep the weather cooled down and often results in rainfall.

However, a new rain spell is entering the federal capital from October 5, 2024. The temperatures recorded today are measured as 34 being the maximum range and 23 being the lowest.

Moreover, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the affected areas include Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, and Nowshera from October 5 to 8. Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan will also experience rain and thunderstorms during the same period.

The PMD has warned of possible impacts, including moderate to heavy rains increasing flow in local nullahs or streams, landslides disrupting roads in vulnerable areas, and windstorms damaging weak structures.

Farmers, travelers, and tourists are advised to take necessary precautions, manage agricultural activities according to the weather forecast, avoid traveling during heavy rainfall, and remain cautious of potential landslides and flash flooding.

To mitigate potential risks, the PMD has advised all concerned authorities to remain alert and take necessary measures to prevent any untoward situations.
