Australia’s famous 25-year-old young footballer, Tate Young, has converted to Islam. According to a foreign news agency, after reciting the Kalima for accepting Islam in a mosque, the Australian footballer said that this decision is not the result of a sudden emotional moment.
Rather, it is a long intellectual, spiritual and personal quest. He said that one day I went to a mosque in the Australian city of Adelaide just out of curiosity to see Muslims worshipping closely.
Tate Young said that I wanted to know what the atmosphere of a mosque is like. During this time, I met the famous religious scholar Mufti Ismail Menk, who talked to me after Friday prayers.
He asked if I had ever recited the Kalima Shahadah. So I replied that no, I had never recited the Kalima.
He said that Mufti Ismail invited me to convert to Islam, which I gladly accepted and recited the Kalima Shahadah in the mosque itself.
The famous footballer said that my journey towards Islam did not start with a single incident. Over time, studies, reflection, and other experiences have created an interest in Islam in my heart.
He said that I decided to convert to Islam with complete satisfaction and personal conviction, which makes me feel at peace.
