MUMBAI: The real reason behind the death of a husband, wife, and 2 daughters after eating watermelon after biryani has been revealed.

Last month, a husband, wife, and 2 children died after eating watermelon after biryani in the Indian city of Mumbai.

According to Indian media, 45-year-old Abdullah Abdul Qadir, 35-year-old wife Nasreen, 16-year-old daughter Ayesha, and 13-year-old Zainab ate biryani with other relatives on Saturday night. Later, at 1 am, they ate watermelon, after which their condition deteriorated a few hours later.

Then, around 5 am, these people started vomiting severely. Initially, a local doctor provided medical assistance, but when their condition worsened, they were shifted to another hospital, where all four died during treatment.

Initially, the cause of death was declared as food poisoning, but the real cause of death of all four people was revealed in the forensic report.

According to Indian media reports, the forensic report has confirmed that the death of 4 members of a Mumbai family was not due to food poisoning caused by eating watermelon, but due to rat poison.

The forensic report has found a toxic substance used to kill rats in the bodies and samples of the watermelon.

This major revelation in the case came a few days after their post-mortem, in which a greenish color was found in the internal organs, which is a sign of poisoning.

Doctors have found traces of zinc phosphide in their bodies, which is a toxic chemical used in rat poison. Zinc phosphide was also found in samples of the watermelon that the family ate.

Investigators are now investigating whether this chemical was accidentally added to the watermelon or was deliberately added.
