SEOUL: A South Korean court has sentenced former Prime Minister Han Deuk-soo to 23 years in prison for aiding and abetting martial law.
Seoul District Court Judge Lee Jin-gwan described Han Deuk-soo’s actions as sedition in his ruling, saying that he had neglected his duties as prime minister.
The judge added that Han’s actions amounted to undermining the constitutional order.
Judge Lee explained that Han’s boss, former President Yoon Suk-yeol, ordered martial law in December 2024 with the aim of “destroying the constitutional order,” which amounted to sedition.
It should be recalled that a few days ago, a South Korean court also sentenced former President Yoon Suk-yeol to five years in prison for obstruction of justice and declaring martial law.
