PARIS: A French military spokesman has reacted to reports that a Rafale fighter jet was shot down by the Pakistan Air Force during the recent conflict between Pakistan and India.

During a press briefing in Paris, the spokesman said that the details of the incident are still uncertain and many aspects need to be confirmed. The spokesman said that we are closely monitoring the situation regarding the performance of the Rafale and are in direct contact with our partner India to obtain accurate information.

He said that according to reports, hundreds of aircraft were involved in the engagement, adding that France is keen to learn as much as possible from this combat experience.

“If the reports of the Rafale being shot down are confirmed, it would be the first such incident in the aircraft’s two decades of operational service,” the spokesman added.
