ISLAMABAD: In many countries, including Pakistan, public holidays are announced every year, after which employees and students plan to spend their holidays in a better way and travel and have fun.
In this context, the United Arab Emirates has released details of possible holidays for the year 2026.
With the end of the year 2025 and the beginning of the new year, preparations have begun in the UAE.
The question on the minds of citizens was when the first public holiday would be, because the Islamic calendar is determined on the basis of the moon, due to which the dates of holidays change every year and the public often suffers from confusion.
However, it has now come to light that the first public holiday of the new year in the UAE will be on January 1, 2026. After the New Year celebrations, there is also a possibility of changes in the public transport schedule and parking fees in the city.
The expected public holidays of the UAE for 2026 include a total of twelve holidays. These include New Year’s Day, three days of Eid al-Fitr on 1st Shawwal, the Day of Arafat on 9th Dhul-Hijjah, three more days of Eid al-Adha on 10th Dhul-Hijjah, then the new Islamic year holiday on 1st Muharram, Eid Milad-un-Nabi on 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal, and finally UAE National Day on 2nd and 3rd December.
Even if there is a slight shift in the lunar dates, there is still a possibility of a long six-day weekend in the coming year.
