NEW DELHI: An Indian Air Force fighter jet crashed in the western state of Maharashtra on Tuesday. Both the pilots were safe in the incident.
As per the reports, the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jet crashed in the Nashik area where it caught fire.
The fighter jet crashed during a test flight, India’s state-run defense company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) wrote on X.
“A technical fault was reported by the pilots. The exact cause will be known only after a detailed investigation,” it said.
Indian Air Force officials told international media that the fighter jet was deployed to HAL for overhaul and testing purposes.
In December last year, an Indian Air Force training aircraft, a Pilatus PC 7 Mk II, crashed in Telangana, killing two officers.
The jet took a routine training flight from AFA, Hyderabad but crashed and both pilots on board were fatally injured.
