LONDON: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has refused to resign despite mounting pressure against his leadership.
According to an international news agency, Starmer said that his government is a 10-year project and that he will continue to fulfill his responsibilities.
This statement came after the Labour Party suffered its worst defeat in the last three decades in local elections. The right-wing populist party “Reform UK” achieved significant successes, after which questions have been raised within the party about Starmer’s leadership.
According to sources, former minister Catherine West has warned that if the cabinet does not take steps to challenge the Prime Minister’s leadership, she will seek the support of party members and demand a leadership election.
