TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Peshkerian has told Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev that Iran was not involved in the airstrike on Azerbaijan.
According to the Azerbaijani news agency, the two leaders had a telephone conversation during which Masoud Peshkerian thanked Ilham Aliyev for visiting the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan to offer condolences to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the civilians killed in the recent attacks.
Masoud Peshkerian said that last week’s drone incident would be investigated, while Ilham Aliyev also stressed that it was necessary to reveal the full truth about the incident.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have congratulated Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader of Iran.
In a statement, the Revolutionary Guards declared their “sincere and lifelong loyalty” to Mojtaba Khamenei, saying they would listen to his orders and be ready to implement them at all times, according to state media.
The statement added that the election of Mojtaba Khamenei by the 88-member Assembly of Experts is proof that the movement of the Islamic system will not stop and that the revolution and the Islamic system do not depend on any one individual.
Iran’s armed forces have also pledged their loyalty to the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
The Omani foreign minister has called Israeli and US actions against Iran immoral and illegal.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of Arab League foreign ministers, the Omani foreign minister also expressed regret over Iran’s retaliation against its neighbors and appealed to the parties to cease hostilities and return to diplomacy.
He said that the US and Israeli attacks on Iran came at a time when diplomatic efforts were moving forward for a just solution.
He said that the region is currently at a dangerous juncture as military operations are escalating. If the fighting continues, it will have serious consequences for the security and stability of the region, in addition to affecting sea routes, supply chains and the global economy.
The Iranian Nuclear Security Center has confirmed that the US strikes in Isfahan have hit a radiation processing facility.
According to the Iranian Nuclear Security Center, there were no reports of radiation or contamination from the impact on the irradiation facility.
