OSLO: A loud explosion struck the US embassy in western Oslo early Sunday, causing minor damage but no injuries, Norwegian police said.
The blast occurred around 1 a.m. (0000 GMT) at the entrance to the consular section, with smoke observed rising from the embassy compound, according to eyewitnesses. Police confirmed damage to the entrance but said no further explosive devices were found.
Two police technicians in protective gear were seen investigating the site. Authorities deployed dogs, drones, and a helicopter to search for potential suspects.
The embassy and the U.S. State Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
