ABU DHABI: In a welcome move, the UAE government has announced that January 1, 2025, will be a public holiday on New Year for all workers in Dubai and other emirates.
This means that UAE residents will get to enjoy a well-deserved break on the first day of the new year, which falls on a Wednesday. This public holiday marks the beginning of a year that promises to bring several breaks for UAE nationals, with at least thirteen public holidays lined up for 2025.
The UAE government has also made significant changes to the public holidays, including the Eid Al Fitr break. According to the new rules, the first three days of Shawwal will be declared as holidays, providing a much-needed break for residents.
Additionally, if the holy month of Ramadan lasts for 30 days, the 30th day of Ramadan will also be a holiday, resulting in a four-day break. However, if Ramadan lasts for 29 days, only the first three days of Shawwal will be declared as holidays for Eid festivities.
Furthermore, Arafah Day, which falls on Dhul Hijjah 9, will be a public holiday, followed by a three-day Eid Al Adha break from Dhul Hijjah 10-12.
This will provide residents with a total of four days off, allowing them to celebrate the occasion with their loved ones. The UAE government’s decision to declare these public holidays is a testament to its commitment to providing a healthy work-life balance for its residents.
