No tensions with Pakistan, US State Dept says

A United States official has said that Pakistan continues to be an important partner and there are no tensions between the two countries.

During a press briefing, Vedant Patel, the deputy spokesperson for the State Department, responded to a question regarding whether the “harsh” remarks made by Pakistani officials were a sign of tension. He said that there was no such issue.

Without a doubt not. As you’ve heard me say previously, Pakistan is one of our most significant regional allies, Patel stated.

“There continues to be a lot of cooperation that we have with the Government of Pakistan, especially in the security space, especially in the trade sector,” he added.

Patel continued by saying that the finance minister of Pakistan had just visited the US and engaged in “consultations” with the State Department.

He said, “We’ll look to continue strengthening this robust relationship.”
