WASHINGTON: American media CNN has released possible points of an agreement between Iran and the United States.
First points: Both sides declare an immediate and permanent end to the war and will refrain from any military action, threat or use of force against each other in the future.
Second points: Iran and the United States will respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and will not interfere in each other’s internal affairs.
Third points: The two countries will try to complete negotiations on a final agreement within 60 days, which can be extended by mutual consent.
Fourth points: The naval blockade on both sides will be lifted and maritime traffic will be restored to normal within 30 days. The United States will withdraw its military forces from the region after the final agreement.
The United States will take steps to lift sanctions on Iran, release frozen Iranian assets and funds, and contribute to a $300 billion plan for Iran’s economic recovery and development.
Fifth points: Iran will restore safe passage for commercial ships in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman and remove mines and other technical obstacles.
Sixth points: Iran reaffirms that it will never develop nuclear weapons and that the final decision on enriched uranium and other nuclear issues will be made in the subsequent comprehensive agreement.
Seventh points: Iran will maintain the status quo in its nuclear program, the United States will not impose new sanctions and will not increase its military presence in the region.
Eighth points: The United States will provide financial and trade concessions for Iranian crude oil and petrochemical products.
Ninth points: A joint system will be established to implement and monitor the final agreement.
Tenth points: The United Nations Security Council will approve this agreement as a binding resolution.
