Ramadan moon sighted in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar; fasting begins Feb 18

RIYADH: The Ramadan moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, and the citizens will observe the first fast tomorrow, Wednesday, February 18.

A  meeting was held at the Huta Sudir location to see the Ramadan moon. Meetings were also held at 7 other locations in Saudi Arabia to see the moon, which were attended by experts from the Department of Meteorology and Astronomy.

According to Saudi media, modern technology was used for the first time to see the Ramadan moon in the kingdom.

According to Saudi media, the Ramadan moon has been sighted in the kingdom, and Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will be the first Ramadan of 1447 AH.

The Saudi Supreme Court has announced the sighting of the Ramadan moon.

The Ramadan moon sighted in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates

According to Arab media, the first Ramadan has also been officially announced in Qatar on Wednesday, February 18. According to the official announcement, the first Ramadan will also be on Wednesday, February 18, in the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, the moon was not sighted in Malaysia and Turkey, after which the first Ramadan has been announced there on February 19.

Apart from this, Ramadan will also begin on February 19 in Singapore, Brunei, Australia, and Oman.

On the other hand, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Peshawar tomorrow to sight the moon in Pakistan.

According to a spokesperson for Suparco, the first Ramadan is likely to fall on February 19, 2026.
