ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): Russia and Belarus have jointly released their third report on the human rights situation in selected countries, sharply criticizing Western nations and accusing them of applying double standards, exerting political pressure, and interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
According to the report issued by the foreign ministries of both countries, human rights are universal and must be respected equally across the world without discrimination. However, the report alleges that certain Western countries are using human rights as a political tool while attempting to impose a so-called “rules-based order” in place of internationally recognized principles of international law.
The report further claims that racism, racial discrimination, and extremist ideologies are re-emerging in several European countries. It also expresses concern over what it describes as the erosion of social responsibilities and the growing militarization of national economies under the pretext of external threats.
In a joint foreword, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky and Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Sekreta said the international community must abandon double standards and uphold equality, justice, and the rule of international law to ensure the effective protection of human rights. They warned that failure to do so could further aggravate global human rights challenges.
