Saudi Arabia announces complete ban on photography in Holy Mosques

MAKKAH :The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced a complete ban on all types of photography and video recording in the Two Holy Mosques.

According to the new policy, taking photographs using mobile phones, professional cameras and other recording devices will be banned in the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina,

According to the details, this directive will come into effect from the upcoming Hajj season.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah says the reason for the ban is the behavior of pilgrims and the problems arising during the rush in the Haram. Photography causes disputes due to delays during prayers,

Rush at important places of worship, and violation of personal space.

The ministry has clarified that the purpose of the ban is to keep the pilgrims focused during worship.

A ministry official said the move was taken in light of growing concerns from local administrations, international delegations to eliminate disruptions during worship and provide a safe and orderly environment for pilgrims.
